Tax tools for U.S. freelancers
Spreadsheets and guides in plain English, for people whose income arrives in irregular lumps and who would rather not find out in April.
The money lands in your account, and none of it is really yours. Nobody withheld anything. There is no pay stub. And the first time anyone tells you the number, it is usually too late to do much about it.
We build the tools we wanted in that year: a tracker that tells you what to set aside from each payment, and a guide that explains why.
Most trackers add up your numbers and leave you to work out what they mean. This one checks what you typed and tells you what looks wrong or missing — 23 checks, running while you type.
Mileage rates, the Social Security wage base, the standard deduction — each one links to the IRS or SSA page it came from. You never have to take our word for it.
The IRS raised the standard mileage rate on 1 July 2026, from 72.5¢ to 76¢. A log that applies one rate to the whole year gives you the wrong number. Both rates are in editable cells.
Tax figures move, sometimes in the middle of the year — 2026 proved that. When one of the numbers in the kit changes, or when the 2027 edition is ready, we will send you one short email. That is the entire list.
It is not tax advice. We are not CPAs or Enrolled Agents, and nothing here replaces one. The tools do arithmetic and record-keeping; they do not know your situation.
The tax content in the guide was independently fact-checked by an outside accountant before publication. That is a check on accuracy — not a professional opinion on your circumstances.
Everything is sold on Etsy, not here. There is nothing to buy on this page.
